A.L. Jackson is one of those writers where I need to be in the right headspace to read one of her books. Each and every time I dive into her series, I end up with a book hangover because she takes you on an emotional roller coaster that you won’t want to get off.  Trent and Eden meet, and they have an instant connection that they fight with everything they have. 

Jackson’s writing style is poetic and repetitive but not in a way that is off putting.  She draws the lines of these characters in such a way that you feel their pain, their emotions.  One thing that I love about her books is the fact that her characters are not afraid to put their feelings out there.  While there is a lot of internal dialogue, these thoughts and feelings are put out loud and center as well.

Trent continually speaks about how he isn’t good, and his one reason is his son. But there is something about Eden that he can not stay away.  Gage, his son, also has such a connection with Eden that is one thing that pushes Trent towards her. We meet Trent’s brothers as well, and the dynamic between the three is something that Jackson thrives at, as well as bringing unseen connections to the forefront of the story.

This is an exceptionally well done story, and be ready for the book hangover that follows.
