Ring of Truth | Deborah Garland
I recently found Deborah Garland’s mafia books and quickly binged everything I could get my hands on. So when this series was coming in audio I knew that I needed to take a listen! I found myself staying in my car and sitting listening to the book vs. multitasking. This book pulled me in from the start. I loved how Anastasia did not sit back and allow her father to marry her off to someone. She took matters into her own hands. It was most definitely not an easy journey and things were really rough for her while but she persevered.
Single father Darragh is just going through the motions. While he wanted a life outside of the mafia he is lonely and misses his family. It is obvious that his relationship and connection with his twin has weighed on him especially as Cormac seems to spiral. Darragh and Ana’s meet cute so to speak is pretty amazing, and I loved the push pull of their relationship and their almost instant connection. Their relationship might have had a fast burn but they had an obvious pull to one another, and their chemistry is off the chart! I love how they literally cannot keep their hands off one another. To say the narration was top tier is an understatement! Lexi Evans did a phenomenal job really bringing Ana’s character to life and expressing her emotions. Gregory Salinas as Darragh…oh my goodness the inflection in his voice, the deep gruff voice was perfect for Darragh but also the sweetness in which he talks to his daughter was perfection! At times duet narration can sometimes distract me but in this case it was amazing- I loved how it felt like we were right there with the characters. And the added narration for the siblings- amazing and add in the Irish lilt I was SOLD! While I thoroughly enjoyed the book, the audiobook really brought it to the next level for me! If you love dark romance with some tender moments this book definitely should be on your TBR!
