People Watching by Hannah Bonam-Young
Heartfelt moments, undeniable heat.
People Watching is a heartfelt small-town romance that balances emotional depth with sizzling chemistry. Prue and Milo’s relationship starts with an awkward (and slightly rushed) spark, but quickly grows into something tender, layered, and believable. The way their “lessons” unfold creates a natural progression from playfulness to genuine connection, and I loved how their bond deepened alongside the romance.
The novel also handles heavier themes with care—Prue’s mother’s Alzheimer’s and Milo’s complicated family history add weight without overwhelming the love story. I especially appreciated Milo’s relationships with his siblings and the small-town coziness that made Baysville feel alive.
The third-act conflict was predictable and wrapped up quickly, but ultimately, I didn’t mind the quicker resolution. By that point, I was invested enough in Prue and Milo’s journey that I was grateful for the warmth of their ending.
Overall, this is a moving and romantic read that blends spice, heartache, and hope in a way that lingers.
