My Kind of Guy | Sarina Bowen
The Hockey Guys is one of my absolute favorite seriesGoing into this book I really wasn’t sure what to expect. The Hockey Guys is one of my absolute favorite series and I reread it on a consistent basis. But man, this book really hit different for me- in the best way! I wasn’t sure how these books were all going to tie together but the way it was done was so perfect. Readers were really able to get a glimpse of all the different levels of hockey, and how there are so many amazing players that are working their way to the top! And the cameos from our favorite hockey guys was exactly what I needed-somehow I’m an ever bigger fan of Coach Powers, too! Sarina had me feeling all of the emotions like so many emotions! Gahhhh-these two while it was not an instant connection for both of them the connection was intense. Forest didn’t allow himself to even consider looking, or finding people attractive- he was really that closed off. And then there was sweet baby Becker James. Oh my goodness, this man. I really love how he was just so HIM. I actually hated that he attempted to minimize himself and talk himself out of being himself. From his fun facts, his one liners, his chirps, the way he shows up for people, and his ability to SEE people. He sees Forest for the guy that he really is-someone with a giant heart, an amazing dad, a hard working business owner, and someone that has been so very hurt in the past. Forest was really hard on himself and didn’t give himself much grace or take time to heal after what he went through. I also thought Forest having a teenager was amazing, oftentimes in the single parent trope books the kids are little, but Charlie was a teenager who had a lot of opinions and was also very intuitive! Charlie also brought A LOT of humor to the storyline and was such a a great character! I love how he called his dad out and the relationship he built with Beck. I really felt that Beck and Charlie built was beautifully written, these two worked hard at the relationship that the had. If you enjoy some angst, humor, a lot of heart, and stellar friend groups this book is most definitely for you!
