Mine | Riley Hart
I dove into this series head first because I have long been a fan of Riley Hart. I thoroughly enjoyed how this was a departure from some of her other books. This definitely is more spicy, but still gives us the emotional connection that she writes do darn well! I connected so much with each of these characters- while they were each on their own journey finding a partner in the BDSM community. I especially love how the BDSM lifestyle was portrayed in this book, while addressing common misconceptions we were able to see the care, love, and connection that Marshall and JT had for one another.
JT really has such a sweet and kind soul, but he seemed a little lost to me. It felt like he was expected to live the life that his family wanted him to have; not the life that he wanted. His family obviously meant well, but it pushed him so far away from even considering what his dreams were. I love how Marsh really was able to hone in on his interest and built up his confidence. I also loved that those closest to JT noticed the positive changes in him as well.
Much like JT, I sort of felt that Marshall was also lost. He thrives on caring for others, and being in control. The way that Marshall put his friendships and relationships first was really admirable, I think Hart did a fantastic job of showing that a successful businessman is able to prioritize his relationships while still being successful. Marshall as a dom was just amazing, and I love how he cared for JT and provided him what he needed but always gave him choices. The way that Marshall opened his heart up melted me, and I love how careful JT was with it.
The angst in this book is excellent- I loved the dynamic between Marshall and his best friend John, who also happens to be JT’s dad. I really appreciated how JT and Marshall navigated JT’s family’s feelings around the relationship and how it really cemented their strong feelings and made their relationship even stronger. I have thoroughly enjoyed this whole series and am looking forward to more!
