Good Spirits by BK Borison

Good Spirits is B.K. Borison is magical, heartfelt and delightfully clever. This isn’t just a holiday romance. It’s a cozy ghost story, a love letter to self-reflection and a reminder that sometimes the thing we thought needed fixed isn’t what we needs fixing.

The story follows Nolan, a Ghost of Christmas Past, who’s tasked with “haunting” Harriet York. However, Harriet is a woman who isn’t exactly Scrooge. She’s kind, considerate and trying her best to make everyone around her happy. So why her? That question becomes the heart of the book as Nolan and Harriet untangle the threads of her past and her choices.

Their dynamic is tender, witty, and unexpectedly emotional.

Watching a ghost and a woman bound by regrets and expectations learn to really see each other is equal parts charming and devastating in the best way. What starts as a “haunting” slowly turns into healing for both of them.

Borison captures the perfect balance of humor and heart but adds a layer of magical realism that feels fresh. There’s holiday warmth, but also introspection, grief, hope and the reminder that love, in any form, is a kind of haunting all its own.

I listened to the audiobook, narrated by Karissa Vacker and Will Watt, and it was an absolute treat. The dual narration perfectly captured the emotional ebb and flow. Vacker brings Harriet’s soft-spoken uncertainty and growth to life, while Watt nails Nolan’s broodiness and quiet yearning. Their chemistry sparkles through every scene.

If you love cozy, slow-burn holiday romances with a hint of the supernatural, then Good Spirits deserves a spot on your holiday TBR. It’s whimsical, emotional, and full of heart.
