A De-cafe Review: My Unexpected Vow by Harlow James

Steam level: 3/5
Angst: 2/5
Trope: Best friend’s sister, marriage of convenience, friends to lovers, slow burn
Series: California Billionaires book 2
Standalone
Tequila, Vegas, and your brother’s best friend what could possibly go wrong?
This is kind of the perfect set up for these two characters. Waverly and Hayes are really a perfect match for each other.
Hayes: Workaholic, playboy, only child and all around a good guy.
Waverly: A soul searching for her purpose, cheerleader to the ones you loves, a big heart and determination.
These two coming together felt natural. These are two people that needed each other as much as they need air to breath. The author spends a lot of time helping you get to know these two characters. It is a very character driven story. The connection and passion between these two is bubbling beneath the surface. Once they take the step to channel their passion toward each other instead of fighting it the story is explosive.
The author does a great job of showing that even when your soul needs another it isn’t always perfect when you come together. The work still needs to be done to let your person know that they matter and show up when they are expecting you.
This book can be read as a standalone and I highly recommend it. This is very well rounded, well written, character driven romance.
