Peaches & Honey Duology by Rachelle Raeta
What does it cost to live forever?
The Peaches & Honey duology is a poetic, deeply intimate exploration of what it means to live forever and what it costs.
These Immortal Truths follows Anna across centuries of history. She witnesses plagues and atrocities she can rarely change, while her kindness remains a constant no matter what identity she takes on. The book reads almost like a personal diary. I loved being immersed in her journey, but I found myself wanting a little more action to balance the slower, reflective pacing. The slow burn romance with Khiran, the shapeshifting god who gave her immortality, develops gradually. It does not fully bloom until later in the book, but the foundation is worth the patience.
These Godly Lies narrows the focus considerably. Anna and Khiran go on the run after her stolen immortality is discovered. The stakes feel more immediate and personal, and new gods and lore add complexity to the world without sacrificing the emotional core these two characters have built. The mystery behind Anna’s immortality finally comes into focus. Watching them fight for a future together after everything they have survived felt earned.
Together, this duology offers a beautifully written meditation on grief, kindness, and love across time. I am so glad I read it.
