You know a book is good when you stay up too late reading, dream about the characters, and then wake up early just to finish the book. I thoroughly enjoyed every.single.second of this book and being in Huckleberry Springs, Montana. I quite literally didn’t want to leave and am anxiously awaiting the next books in this series!
Campbell Hawthorne seriously cannot catch a break. After being dumped and finding out her ex was cheating on her, she now has to plan the wedding. There are many people that might think that Campbell is spoiled and doesn’t work hard, but I love how she showed the town and her naysayers (I’m looking at you, Durban) just how hard working, smart and driven she is. I really loved how Campbell held her head high, and did what needed to be done. She took the high road, but also took support where she needed it.
Durban Hennessy is fresh out of a long term relationship, and most definitely wants people to think that he is grumpy. But in all readily this man has a giant heart of gold and really will do anything for those that he cares about. Not only that I love that he has a moral compass, and that moral compass puts him swiftly on Campbell’s side. Durban and Campbell embark on a little “friends with benefits” while Campbell is in one of the most stressful weeks of her life. And let me tell you these two lit the pages on fire. Durban most definitely brought the dirty talk. Not only that he stood next to her, beside her, and behind her to support…not stepping on toes just quietly letting her know he was there whenever she needed him and for whatever reason. Even better is that it really put her ex on edge! One of my favorite parts of this book outside of Campbell and Durban was how the town and their “people” rallied for Campbell. If you love a small town, an age gap, a family series, banter, spice and characters you just cannot help but love this most definitely is the book for you! And even better it is book 1 in Walker Rose’s new series so it is also a perfect place to start!
